If you need assistance with your Electric bills, Dominion Energy offers a program called EnergyShare. EnergyShare is a program that is available and offers an assistance program of last resort for anyone who faces financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis.
Bill Payment Assistance
EnergyShare is a heating assistance program in North Carolina. Heating assistance applies to any heat source: oil, gas, kerosene, wood, and electricity.
How to Apply
Call 2-1-1 or visit nc211.org for a referral to your local EnergyShare agency or view a list of local EnergyShare agencies. Trained professionals can provide referrals to resources for basic human needs, child care, elder care, housing assistance and more. Help is available 24/7.
Payments and Funding
Dominion Energy and social service agencies pay for the program’s administrative expenses. This means every cent donated goes to benefit those in need. Funds come from tax-deductible donations from customers, stockholders, employees, EnergyShare Partners, and Dominion Energy. Funds are distributed through a network of nonprofit health and human service agencies.
How to Contribute
- Simply add $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, or $35 to the amount due on your bill.
- Overpayments in these exact amounts are automatically recognized as a contribution and will be documented on your next bill.

You can be an EnergyShare Partner by contributing, by distributing information to customers and employees, and by providing other support.

Agency Web Access (AWA) – EnergyShare intake agencies can access account information online to view an applicant’s account statements, bill history or scheduled orders, and make pledges.
